Here is my take on processing, how many reverbs and compressors can be made? When is this stuff going to top out and stop being treated as a fetish with a tsunami of marketing that it is so special? Point is, 10? 20 years? It seems to be exploited right now + this whole emphasis on "fix it with a plug-in." If you look at the history of recording, the recording engineers did not even like mixer hardware EQ's when they first came out. It is paid for at time of console purchase. In other words, the processing is included with purchase price of console. You are not asking me, but in his comment, solo says, great processing on board rather than those relying on third parties to write plugins

I am not and never will be interested in any mixing workflow that requires an iLok or other license management, so my choice of consoles will always be biased toward those with great processing on board rather than those relying on third parties to write plugins in order to make the console sound good. I know for me, if I turn up to a venue and see an Avid console, I'll mix on it without complaint, but if you asked me what I would take on the road with me it would be practically anything else. I think Avid is going to sell a lot of them to rental houses, you'll always be able to get ahold of one wherever you go, it'll be the house console on all the festival stages, but I think we're gonna see a lot fewer shows carrying them than were carrying Profiles and SC48s.
